Summary of Position
The Associate Account Executive (Employee Benefits) will play a critical role in securing new business, onboarding clients, providing ongoing consultation to employee benefits stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling additional solutions. This individual will manage and grow a block of business while delivering strategic advisory support and high-level service to clients and their employees.
Qualifications
The Associate Account Executive (Employee Benefits) will play a critical role in securing new business, onboarding clients, providing ongoing consultation to employee benefits stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling additional solutions. This individual will manage and grow a block of business while delivering strategic advisory support and high-level service to clients and their employees.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of Employee Benefits insurance experience, with 3+ years of client management
- Knowledge of international benefits planning considered an asset
- LLQP / Life License (to be completed within 6 months of employment)
- Post-secondary degree or diploma
- Commitment to delivering superior customer service to a diverse client base
- Strong business development awareness and ability to identify coverage opportunities
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Take full ownership of renewal book, building strong client relationships and maximizing retention
- Collaborate regularly with internal team members to review client account status
- Submit Requests for Proposal (RFPs); review and negotiate terms; finalize and present recommendations to clients
- Manage onboarding and implementation for new clients
- Negotiate, prepare, and present annual renewal strategies
- Provide quarterly plan performance updates
- Present plan design options and strategic recommendations
- Market client programs when appropriate
- Provide ongoing plan administration training and support
- Host employee education sessions
- Prepare member communication materials
- Respond to plan administrator and member inquiries
- Provide updates regarding plan or industry changes
- Work closely with service specialists on day-to-day administration
- Develop marketing initiatives for new business
- Assist members transitioning off group plans with individual coverage
- Manage and mentor customer service team members
- Ensure work is accurate, efficient, and timely
- Support the Director, Employee Benefits in developing and securing new business opportunities, including:
- Initiating communication with prospects following initial introductions
- Utilizing industry benchmarking data to structure appropriate coverage solutions
- Determining optimal insurer placement (national and international markets)
- Building trusted relationships with prospective clients
- Preparing and presenting proposals
- Collaborating on annual business plans and strategic growth initiatives
- Assist plan members with claims navigation to ensure timely resolution
- Coordinate with insurers regarding amendments, billing, and enrollments
- Manage account documentation, policy wording reviews, and renewal issuance
- Ensure files are organized and compliant
- Lead by example as a positive and professional role model
- Contribute to a collaborative and efficient team environment
- Share ideas to improve processes and communication
- Assist team members as required
- Demonstrate commitment to organizational vision, mission, and values
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and binding authority
- Represent the organization in a professional manner
- Adhere to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Comply with Insurance Council of British Columbia guidelines and licensing requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of client and staff information
- Adhere to workplace attendance and safety standards
- Maintain working knowledge of departmental products and services
- Complete mandatory licensing and continuing education requirements
- Stay current on market trends, products, and regulatory changes through industry participation
