Director of Growth About the Opportunity
We are working with a well-established, high-growth national insurance brokerage that continues to expand its footprint across Canada through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
With a strong leadership team, significant market presence, and private equity backing, the organization is entering its next phase of expansion and is looking for a senior leader to help drive that growth strategy forward.
This is a high-visibility executive role for someone who understands the Canadian brokerage landscape and can operate at both the strategic and execution level.
Position Overview
The Director of Growth will sit as part of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to senior executive leadership, and will be responsible for advancing national growth initiatives across both organic and acquisitive channels.
This individual will lead growth strategy through targeted producer expansion, branch development, and disciplined M&A activity across the brokerage network.
The role requires someone who can think strategically while remaining highly hands-on with sourcing, evaluation, execution, and performance accountability.
Key Responsibilities Growth Strategy & Planning
- Execute the organization's national growth strategy across both organic and acquisition pipelines
- Develop lead generation and revenue growth strategies across key business channels
- Conduct market analysis and competitive reviews to identify expansion opportunities within the Canadian insurance space
- Track growth performance and report against strategic targets
- Partner with sales leadership to improve:
- Pipeline visibility and accountability
- New business conversion and revenue growth
- Producer and branch performance
- Build and strengthen relationships with insurance carriers across Canada
- Oversee onboarding, integration, and ramp-up of producers, branches, and acquired businesses
- Track KPIs related to both organic and inorganic growth initiatives
- Identify and evaluate acquisition opportunities including:
- Brokerages
- Books of business
- Producer teams
- Build relationships with sellers, advisors, and industry partners
- Prepare initial opportunity assessments and recommendations
- Represent the organization at P&C insurance events and industry functions
- Coordinate due diligence across:
- Book quality and revenue analysis
- Client and producer concentration
- Carrier relationships and contingencies
- Cultural and operational alignment
- Support valuation modeling, deal assumptions, and transaction documentation
- Assist transactions from LOI through close
- Work closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, and People teams to ensure smooth execution
- Support retention planning and earn-out strategy development
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent leadership experience
- Strong experience in:
- Sales leadership
- Corporate development
- M&A
- Insurance brokerage growth strategy
- Deep understanding of:
- Brokerage operations
- Revenue drivers
- Compensation structures
- EBITDA performance
- Acquisition economics
- Proven experience working within the Canadian insurance brokerage market
- Strong knowledge of regional brokerage dynamics, carrier relationships, and national growth opportunities
This role is ideal for someone who understands how brokerages grow — not just on paper, but in practice.
You should be equally comfortable in a boardroom discussing acquisition strategy as you are evaluating producer quality, branch performance, and long-term integration success.
